Liquid Screed is an innovative flooring solution that is now being widely used in all manner of applications. It is pumped into a room at a fast rate which means that larger areas can be completed in shorter time frames. It is a good option financially as there is little waste and less product is needed. Particularly good for underfloor heating because it can be laid thinner and fully surrounds the pipes meaning that there are no void spaces.
The result is a more efficient and evenly heated floor that is more cost effective as the pipes are closer to the surface.
It is also widely used in larger industrial and commercial projects as the fast pumping time means that areas as large as 2,000 square meters can easily be achieved in a single day. Another benefit is that it can be walked on in 24-48 hours preventing long hold ups on builds. In Germany and other parts of Europe, liquid screed makes up 80% of all flooring due to the reasons mentioned above.
There are several different types of floor screed available, here we will give you an overview of the different types that we use but will talk you through the best option for your project in the quote and are more then happy to discuss the merits of each product over the phone.
Calcium Sulphate Liquid Screeds
The calcium sulphate liquid screeds are made of 38% recycled gypsum which would otherwise be sent to landfill, the production process uses less CO2 than concrete production as there is no heat involved in it’s creation. The product is also 100% recyclable at the end of the life of a building which makes it a very good option for reducing the carbon footprint of a job.
There is a calcium sulphate screed available to suit every build, including one that has been developed to compliment both underfloor heating and cooling systems. Some are designed to provide a smooth level surface in both commercial and domestic buildings where higher than usual loadings are expected. Also screeds specifically designed for use in bonded construction between 12-30mm, designed to bridge the gap between bagged self levelling compounds and bonded sand and cement screeds.
Below are the products that we use, click on the links for a more detailed overview of their products. We will always suggest the product we believe to be best suited to your project needs.
Faster Drying Cement Based Screeds
These screeds are new to the market and are set to revolutionise the screeding industry with drying times at less then half the rate of the Calcium Sulphate Screeds and can be foot trafficked 24-48 hours after pouring and a full drying time of 14 – 21 days.
Main benefits are faster drying times, resulting in floor coverings being able to be laid sooner allowing for shorter time scales for project completion. In most cases there is also no need for laitance removal.
At present there are only two companies that offer these faster drying screed products, Tarmac and Cemfloor. Unfortunately due to limited suppliers, we are at present unable to offer full UK coverage for these particular products but other manufacturers look set to follow suit widening the distribution prospects. Please contact Gyvtec today to see if faster drying screeds are available in your area.
Self Levelling Compounds
Here at Gyvtec Ltd we can supply and install bonded levelling in compounds have a coverage as little as 12mm – 30mm.
